The ENVY 6000 series of printers are simple, low profile and meant to fit seamlessly in active areas of the modern home. With simple, stacked forms, these devices can be accessed either directly or remotely through HP’s award-winning smart app for various scanning and printing tasks. Guided lighting allows for gentle reminders of supply status and alerts. Intuitive touch controls are hidden until lit. Functional components such as the automatic document feeder are integrated seamlessly as a small compact form, ready to use at a moment’s notice, and stowed away discreetly when not needed.
Much care and consideration was taken to make sure the fit and feel are delightful, while at the same time minimizing part count and wall thickness for mass production and cost considerations. Aesthetics, function, user needs, rigidity, and cost all played important factors in designing each component of the product.

cutting-edge imaging analysis, enabling the identification and sorting of cells.
This instrument elevates gentle cell sorting.
It streamlines workflows for bulk sorting and single-cell dispensing into 96 or 384 well plates while also incorporating integrated sample cooling and cell dispensing.
In most cases, the device is located inside a biosafety cabinet the design has two sliding doors which open horizontally and keep within the device footprint.
Fabricated with powder coated sheet metal. Decorative metals with hairline finishes were also used. The UI incorporates unique gradated lighting which transitions in color based on operational states.

Aesthetic and prototype build explorations
Supervised and collaborated with multiple teams and outside firms over a two-month sprint to disrupt printing architecture for the home. Small compact designs were created to meld into the modern wireless home and easily integrate into active lifestyles. Concepts were reviewed with engineering teams for feasibility. This sprint was meant to spark new conversations in printing and how traditional printers can break free from the traditional home office and easily morph into the modern home.

Inspired by modern housewares such as ceramics and lighting, the HP DeskJet 3600 series is smooth, soft, and simple. It’s designed to fit beautifully into small home offices in all markets around the globe. The attention to form and detail is bringing high-end design to mass-market consumers, at a great price point.
Home interior trends are moving towards more multi-functional and compact spaces. As a result, designers must pare down their designs and deliver simple, harmonious objects. By cleaning up split-lines and softening forms, the HP DeskJet 3600 printer becomes a fountain for productivity, memories and sentiments. The experience design includes thoughtful details and touch points that consider usage by entire families, many of
whom will only print from a mobile device.

Print competition and opening price points were considered as we saw an opportunity to reinvigorate this market category. We decided to break away from the typical retail line-up and used softened white forms with energized color accents, based on user research in the United States, South America, Asia and Europe. The design team selected colors that would resonate with the DeskJet user and coordinated with upcoming HP notebook colors.
